Orleans Rock

The other day I was driving and "Still the one" came on the radio and I danced to much that people honked at me. I was so excited I had my arm and head out the window and I was screaming. This is a real road trip song. Its catching and its happy because they still love each other after all these years.. My favorite line is highlighted below

We've been together since way back when
"Sometimes I never want to see you again" (thats so funny cause its true)
But I want you to know, after all these years
You're still the one I want whisperin' in my ear

You're still the one
I want to talk to in bed
Still the one that turns my head
We're still having fun,
and you're still the one

I looked at your face every day
But I never saw it 'til I went away
When winter came, I just wanted to go Deep in the desert,I longed for the snow

You're still the one
that makes me laugh
Still the one that's my better half
We're still having fun, and you're still the one

You're still the one that makes me strong
Still the one I want to take along
We're still having fun, and you're still the one (yes you are!)

ewwww

I never want to have to use this...Ever - DO YOU HEAR ME - I said N*E*V*E*R

Water = Pee

Its the truth - I dont make thigns like this up. If you drink water you will pee and pee is good because who wants pee inside of them. The lesson here is to drink water...

Brooklyn Bridge

Sunday -

I awoke to the sweet sound of 7th avenue Taxis Honking their horns for all to hear. Honestly - Why do these animals think they are going to get anywhere faster by honking your horn? NYC is notorious for streets with NO HONK signs which bring a $350 fine if you don’t follow the rules. I have decided that when looking for my next apartment it will be on a no honk street...
Well I’m up so what do I do -
I decided to sit on my fire escape in the sun to get a little color and surf my gyms website to arrange what classes I want to take at the gym. You know - I spent 1 hour writing down the different dates of the week what gym has what and at what time like I’m actually going to go to any of these classes...I have never been to a class to date but it was really worth an hour of my Sunday....smiles.
Being that I was excited about the gym I decided to go. I worked out for a full hour on weights and the elliptical. I felt great and thought why not walk the Brooklyn Bridge. I went home jumped in the shower and off I went on a trip to Brooklyn Heights via the Brooklyn Bridge. It really is a beautiful thing to do. The Bridge is really amazing and full of people. You really don’t even realize your walking across the bridge until your done and look back because the cars are going underneath your feet. Every 100 or so meters there is a couple guys selling water for a $1 so you can stay hydrated. Once I finished the bridge I headed into Brooklyn Heights which really is a beautiful place. I've attached some pictures of my trip over the Brooklyn Bridge and views of the Financial District from the middle.

Crayons and Table Cloths

I went on a date last night to Tavern on Jane. It’s a really cute Bistro where the West Village meets Chelsea. Its been a while since I have been to a nice restaurant that gives you crayons if you ask for them. The only stipulation was

1.Do Not Color on the Walls

2.Do Not Color on the Ceiling

Like I’m about to get up on my chair and write on the ceiling.. But I assume they only reason they say that is because someone has....

I have attached one of my Drawing's...Do you think I have a gift?

Fashions Night Out

Should have been called "Losers night in Public"
- Why is it that people with no fashion sense what so ever truly think they have some. Why when someone asks me which shirt looks better and i reply, Neither, Does that make me a bad person? Both of those shirts are ugly they both look the same and they both hug your body like spandex...And lets be honest - No one should be wearing spandex....
I tried to capture some of the fashion donts on my phone but it was to dark. On the bright side there where some very beautiful people out and they where giving away tons of free things. At the Corner of Perry and Bleeker they had KED'S booth (THE SHOES). They where free and then you could paint/spray paint them what ever style and colors you wanted. MAC was giving out lipstick and I could hand cream and cupcakes. Most of the high end stores had Champagne and hors d'oeuvres, My friend Kristy and I went into Tommy Hilfiger and He was actually inside, Champagne was flowing and remember this is a free event - All of a sudden there was a commotion on the street and people started to run back over to Perry (Perry is also the street SJP's Walk up Brownstone from Sex and the City is on) Taylor Momsen (Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl - Who knew she’s could sing???) had jumped up on stage and started a live concert that was awesome. She’s has a great voice and the crowd loved it, I've attached a picture of her on stage looking right at you....ha

Looooooonnnnnggggg Weekend

Generally Long weekends consist of Friend's Food Fun and of course Alcohol. These are the weekends that you remember the entire year as things to look forward to. My weekend was one that I will never forget.

It started off with a trip to Rockaway beach on Friday night. A couple I met recently has a house there and invited me for a pool party. I took Garry (my roommate) along for the ride (because he has a car...haha) - It was a great night and I meet some very nice guys.
Now it’s Sunday morning and we have planned a trip to FIRE ISLAND. This is a Place Gay dreams are made of. The island is one of Long Island's south shore outer barrier islands, approximately 31 miles (50 km) long and varying between approximately 0.1 mile (160 m) to 0.25 mile (400 m) wide - NO CARS - Only boards walks that circle the perfectly built beach homes. Garry and I took the ferry over from Sayville which cost $14 return. As we pulled closer to the shore you could see what kind of day this was going to be. We had only planned to stay for the day leaving after lunch a few drinks. This is not what happened

12:00pm - We arrive in Cherry Grove, a town on Fire Island.
12:30pm - We walk around admiring the beauty of the Island
1:00 pm - We sit down for a Lobster Roll and a beer
2:00 pm - We make or way to the Ice Palace at the Grove hotel to meet Nicole for drinks
2:30 pm - We started drinking ROCKET FUEL's a drink she introduced me to that consists of a pina colada topped with a shot of Bacardi 151.
3:30pm - We have now had 2 vodkas and 5 rocket fuels totally 14 shots of alcohol
3:45pm - Nicole and her friends leave and I realize just how wasted I am.
4:00pm - I am so drunk that I can't actually speak - I have lost Garry and jumping in the Atlantic ocean appears to be a good idea to me.
4:15pm - I m walking the board walk to the water and trip over something causing me to fall off the boardwalk into a tree - I was so drunk that I actually could not get up. I was bleeding from cuts and had hit my head on a garden gnome so I was really out of it.
4:20pm - These 2 guys are yelling at me to wake up and trying to help me out of the tree.
I yell B-52'S B-52'S
4:20-pm - 6:59pm - BLACKED OUT
7:00PM - I wake up sitting beside a guy from Trinidad
7:05pm - 7:45pm - BLACKED OUT
7:45pm - I wake up sitting on a extra large rocking chair with a girl named Heather - Apparently I was telling her my life story but I don’t remember any of it.
8:30pm - I've been trying to find Garry for the last 30 min but he is no where to be had
8:45pm - My phone just died
9:00pm - I meet a guy named Carlos who has a I phone charger and charge my phone at his beach house
10:00pm - I wake up on his couch...lol. He let me sleep because I was so drunk. My phone is now charged but Garry’s is now dead
10:30pm I am back at the Ice Palace and Garry finds me -
11:00pm: Missed the last ferry
The rest I will keep to myself..........

Film Centre Cafe

Its 7:22pm and I'm at the Film Centre Cafe at 44th and 9th waiting for my friend Flor to meet me for a drink - I've just ordered a glass of silky soft seductive syrah cusumano 2007 - Sicilian of course... I'm sitting at the bar alone,There's a guy two stools down reading a book called "haunted" and a woman two down from him singing to herself. I can't help wonder to myself if this is my future - alone at a bar waiting ..
Waiting for a friend who never comes!
Waiting for a man who never came!
Waiting for the waitress with my calamari...
Is this what will become of me?

Shelly Sobels Chala French Toast...NOT LOW FAT but really raelly good

1 large Chala
6 eggs
3 cups whole milk ( I used skim Lactose)
1\2 tsp cinnamon or nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup packed brown sugar
3 cups berries
1\2 cup pure maple syrup (has to be the real stuff)
1 tbsp lemon juice

Butter 13 x 9 baking dish. Cut chala into 1" slices and then cut into quarters and arrange in 2 layers in baking dish. Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon or nutmeg, vanilla & 3\4 cup of the brown sugar and pour evenly over bread. (I did one layer first with the egg and then I placed the second layer and poured the rest over). Chill mixture, covered until all liquid has absorbed into bread (I left it in the fridge overnight).

Preheat oven to 400.

Melt 1\2 stick butter with the remaining 1\4 cup brown sugar, stirring until well blended. Drizzle mixture over bread and bake 45 to 50 minutes, uncovered. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Can be made in advance and warmed before serving.

I bought a Couch

For the past 6 months my roommate and I have been sitting on the small bench Jared and I used to have at the front door of our house in Toronto so you had some where to take your shoes off. (Jared is my ex boyfriend of 5 years - One of my besties now....long story) Garry - My Roommate and I decided it was time we made our apartment feel and look like a home. I think that if you want to be happy in life you have to make everything thing around you happy as well. Doesn’t everyone want to come home to a place that makes me feel welcomed, something comfortable and fashionably decorated. I also want to feel pride in where I live. Right now with white walls and a few pictures up I’m just not feeling it... Stay tuned for before and after pics

My Walk home last night

When money is tuff in NYC I think of ways to cut costs....Obviously I cant stop shopping and lets be honest If I could stop eating this blog would have never been started... So where can I cut costs? THE SUBWAY..(Not subway sandwiches but the long thing you ride back and forth to work) This is $2.25 per direction. If I took it to and from work every day 5 days a week for a month that’s $90.00 OK OK THIS IS GOOD, I’m getting somewhere, That allows me an extra $90 a month.. Now as I have issues with my weight I seem to also have issues with money...Maybe they are connected maybe its because I just love to feel good - hmm maybe I like feeling good by shopping because Im not 100% happy with how I look.. Oh this is deep...Ok I might need a tissue...lol - ***back on track*** I know I have issues with money because even as I explaining how I just saved $90 I thinking in my head.. whoohoooo - I have an extra $90, I should go to Rosa Mexicana tongiht for Pomegranate Margaritas... There $11 but sooooo worth it...
*SIDENOTE* - Last time My friend Michael and I went to Rosa Mexicana we where sat beside a couple of Italians on Vacation. Well let me tell you.. After a couple of Pom Margaritas we had moved our chairs almost beside the two Italian girls and had adapted similar accents to theirs. Although the only words we kept repeating where BRAMASOLE BRAMASOLE..(From under the Tuscan sun..helloooo) ..We then asked if we could find her a steak knife to eat her dessert...lol..It was horrible and they where not impressed..but it was funny and we laughed so hard that it didn’t really matter, I called it "Dinner Theatre"... See the bad thing about drinking near work is that you think about going back...Not to actually do work of course but to do something naughty. I've attached a picture of what we did to my co-worker Aliza’s desk at around 11pm at night after lots of $11 pom margaritas...The next morning when I came to work this is the email I sent her..haha

"Aliza -We do not use our desk as a toilet. In America we use the white bowl in the lockable room at the back of the office. Clients have not been happy with the smell of poo surrounding your desk.. Picture to prove your desk is a toilet"

hahaha - we all had a laugh

*SIDENOTE OVER* - So The point of My story is that I walked home last night Down 9th avenue ... I usually walk down 8th or down the water front but decided to try something new yesterday and I’m happy I did. The only sketchy par was walking past the back of the Port Authority Bus Terminal where a gentleman so kindly spit at my feet. I think he might have been an entrepreneur looking to shine my shoes but I really didn’t want to take any chances finding out.

Skin Disease and Christmas Trees

A girl I work with has a disease called “Pityriasis rosea” that makes a rash on her back in the shape of a Christmas tree... This makes me miss Christmas real bad....I feel the desire to open presents….. lot’s of presents ...See Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I would take a cold snowy Christmas morning with my mom and grandparents over any other day of the year. For as long as I can remember my Grandpa was the 1st up on Christmas morning. He used to yell to me to get up so I could open my presents. I used to think it was so nice of him when I was younger until I realized that the only reason he got me up so bloody early was because he wasn’t allowed to open his presents until I started with mine...ha
He’s a little sneak and I love it...Christmas was always an event for me growing up. 1st was Christmas at my moms Christmas tree where most of the presents where, these where always shocking presents, TV'S, Furniture, designer Clothes and things for the house. Then It was off to the G's Tree (G's = My Grandparents on my moms side) where we would open the second largest haul.....Then its over to my dads house, My dads was never about gifts because he never got me anything that good, It was just great to see my brothers Warren and Landon, My Nana And Papa and Dad and Julie(my stepmom). I always got 1 odd gift like a candle holder or a CD and a card with a random amount of money like $105 or $70 bucks ….almost like they had thought that morning SHIT – Dereks coming. What have you got in your pockets…lol . I always laughed because their tree was always surrounded with thousands of dollars worth of gifts for my brothers. Electric Guitars, Wii's and things like that. I never cared that much that I got $70 and a candle holder but just found it quite funny. I mean you think they would at least get them to open the gifts before I got there and lie to me about what they got like my mom and I did with the gifts the G's got us when we went to my Aunt’s house - which leads me to My Aunt Elaine’s Tree where we would begin the final serious of paper cuts trying to open an array of .25 cent candles and cookie cutters shaped like Halloween ornaments (with the original price tags conveniently left on, like I think she paid $20 for a cookie cutter shaped like a pumpkin in December) Regardless I always had fun because my one cousin Rebecca, like clockwork, had some sort of attack at the dinner table about the most random things. She would start yelling and making a fool of herself which would allow my other cousin Melissa - My favorite cousin and I to bond. After the drama of dinner was over we headed back to Mums where we played with our Toys and went to bed full and happy… Ahh Christmas…Your only 116 days away……
FYI - Just incase your curious - The Christmas Tree on her back is not contagious and it is not green.

Day 1

I have decided that I want to fit in the ads I religiously read in GQ magazine. I mean how many tailored outfits look good on a man with tits and a belly... Tailoring can only do so much for the male form. This is why I’ve decided to turn my frown upside down on a three month life changing experience.
It's not just about dieting for me. It's about really changing the way I live and the choices one makes on a daily basis. Let's start with sex I mean it's on the front of everyone’s mind gay or straight. Maybe some can relate to the awkward feeling you get when you have met someone In a bar and you know they don't know what you really look like naked. That the layers you have so sneakily arranged to give you the peck effect
(peck effect = when you have man bobs but wear a really tight top under a dress shirt to keep them in place. Or wearing a button down shirt with a pocket on each side to give the illusion that the bulkiness is solely to do with those darn pockets, and of course leaving it unbuttoned enough that your shirt doesn't pull at the 3rd button)
Ahhhhh Layers (my true love) - see this is really why I love any season other than summer. Let’s face it – I really want to love summer.
Ok back on track – Now you’re smiling and the guy who wants to come home with you and contemplate the location of your bed from the light switch. (This is why I’m thankful I live in NYC because I can actually touch all four walls from the center of my room.)
This is the feeling I no longer want.
So …..I have decided to blog about my experience not only with my journey of weight loss but life in general. I’ll add Stories and pictures of my day to day experiences with the world around me.

I hope you enjoy
